Technique Tips #1 – Higher Exit Arms = Better Entry @ Catch
As a number of paddlers have low exit arms which greatly affect the efficiency of your next catch, its important to practice raising your ‘whole’ arm higher at the exit. Here is a simple drill to do on dry land:
Sit on a balance ball (or chair) in front of a mirror and raise some dumbbells (2-3kgs) so your elbows are as high as your shoulders and hands are at forehead high. You need to feel the lift from your should joint keeping backward pressure on the should blades and shoulders down. As I said, raise your whole arm up, not just your hand while leaving your elbow low. I would say 50-100 per day.
